At 88, She’s Learning AI. Here’s Why It Matters.

88 year old woman on a camel

Judy's 88-year-old mother-in-law recently attended an AI workshop at her retirement community. When it was over, she tracked down the instructor and asked them to come back and teach more.

Now she's meeting with her AI workshop group every other week this spring!

She wasn't afraid of looking silly or getting it wrong. She was curious. She leaned in.

And her brain lit up – because that's exactly what brains do when you give them something new.

Neuroscience backs this up: novelty activates the brain in powerful ways, and it's never too late to learn.

She even generated her own AI image (above)  –  proof that when you're open to trying, remarkable things happen!

What struck us? The mindset she brought to that workshop: curiosity, openness, a willingness to try and learn quickly, is just what employers are hungry for right now.

Adaptability isn't just a nice-to-have. It's the skill of the moment.

At EvolveMe, we talk a lot about ageism in the workplace. And yes, it's real. Women in their 40s, 50s, and 60s face very real barriers to advancement and opportunity.

But what we’ve seen with our clients in midlife that we can’t ignore? Ageism also lives inside us — in the stories we tell ourselves about what we're capable of, what we're too old for, what's no longer meant for us.

Judy's mother-in-law (and her friends!) aren’t having any of it. At 88.

Women in midlife are embracing technology in ways that don't always get celebrated — but should.

Linda is a perfect example. Without a formal technical background, she became EvolveMe's go-to CTO because she deeply believed that everything is figureoutable. That belief changed everything for our business – and for her.

You don't have to have all the answers. You just have to be willing to start — and stay open to learning and growing along the way.

One of the most powerful things we've seen in our work is what happens when women come together with that spirit of openness and curiosity. The learning accelerates. The courage builds. And the connections last far beyond any program or workshop.

That's why we created the Reinvention Collective — a cohort-based career training experience for women in midcareer transition who are ready to explore what's next with intention, community, and momentum.

PS If you're in NYC and in your 40s, 50s, or 60s+ and ready to embrace your next chapter with that kind of energy, our 12th Reinvention Collective cohort starts March 10th at Luminary. This training is offered once a year.

Come curious. Come open. Come ready for new possibilities!
