Meet Nina Collins, reinventor, author, entrepreneur, and Chief Creative Officer of Hello Revel, a membership-based community where women in their 40s, 50s, and beyond share experience, laughter, and adventure. Read on to learn How She Did It!

What is your personal mantra, mission, or manifesto? Why do later what you can do now?

What inspired you to launch your current career/launch your business? I was needing to have a frank conversation about aging in our society, and couldn't find one!

What is unique about returning/pivoting in midlife? Challenges & opportunities? We have so much more wisdom than ever before, and for the most part that's a huge plus. Where I think sometimes it hinders us is that we're more aware of potential risks/downsides.

What’s one intention you have for your work this year? To grow Revel to 100,000 members.

What are you most passionate about right now? My work, my relationship, my children, my poodle. All at once.

What does a typical day look like for you? I get up between 8 and 9. Walk the dog, hopefully do 30 minutes of strength training, make a bowl of non-fat Greek yogurt and fruit, plus a cup of green tea. I may tidy up the apartment and do some personal errands, and I'm usually at my desk between 9 and 10am. Then I'm basically on calls and Zooms all day long, alternating between my comfy gray suede armchair and my standing desk.

I juggle a million different things all day, from my work at Revel, to my work as the chair of the Brooklyn Public Library, to my work managing the literary estate of my late mother (Kathleen Collins), to the various needs of my four adult-ish children. And I'm also an Airbnb host! It's busy here! In the evenings I either see my darling boyfriend, hang with friends, or have a quiet night at home to myself. A grain bowl & Netflix!

What’s the one thing that has advanced your career in the last year? My own determination.

Who’s your “tribe” when it comes to professional inspiration or support? I'm famous among my friends and colleagues for liking to crowd-source everything, but I generally tend to ultimately listen to my gut. I like to hear everyone's opinion though!

Favorite book, app or podcast? Is it wrong to say the Revel app? I also love anything written by Alice Munro.

You’re granted an extra hour in the day, how do you spend it? Walking in nature.

The advice I wish I had given to my 20-year-old self is… Take a deep breath; it's all going to be ok.

The advice that I want to give to my 75-year-old self is... Be grateful.

Your theme song that played every time you walked in a room would be? Listen by Beyonce

Best career advice for other women? Be authentic and trust yourself.

When did you feel you got “you” back? At 50!

What’s up next? Growing Revel to be THE destination for women over 40.
