Updated: Jan 9, 2021

This article is a part of our monthly Women Evolve(d): How She Did It

Each month we feature inspirational women who've made it to the other side of career change. Learn how they did it and take away usable tips from their career journeys! This month, we're proud to feature Holland Haiis.

Holland helps organizations and individuals take steps to greater creativity, productivity, and humanity in a virtual world.

As a subject matter expert on human connection, she helps individuals and teams create better relationships with and without technology. Focusing on neuroscience, mindset, and behavior to provide powerful human relationship solutions, Holland helps organizations leverage their greatest assets - people, time, and opportunities through the power of human relationship ROI.

Holland was acknowledged for her ground-breaking ideas, and made global headlines, after writing Consciously Connecting - A Simple Process to Reconnect in a Disconnected World. Hay House named me one of 100 Global Thought Leaders along with Suze Orman, Deepak Chopra, and Gabby Bernstein. She is often called upon by CNN, FOX, NBC, ABC, and many others.

What is your personal mantra, mission or manifesto?

Every year I have a new mantra and it seems to find me organically. Usually a word pops into my head, or a sentence, and I know this is perfect for the upcoming year. In December of 2019 the word 'faith' kept finding me and from that word, so did my 2020 mantra--Release and Let it Flow. When you let things flow without trying to form, manipulate, or change you're amazed at your internal compass and how it will always point you north. When I reflect on the challenges that have unfolded for this year, I realize my mantra fits perfectly!

What’s one intention you have for your work this year?

To empower and impact more people on a larger scale. This means more media opportunities and continuing to speak at conferences and within organizations. I'm working to change the consciousness of the world, hence the title of my book: Consciously Connecting-A Simple Process to Reconnect in a Disconnected World, by helping others with the awareness of how they lead and the impact made both personally and professionally.

What are you most passionate about right now?

Corporate Burnout and Wellness. I've done so much work around digital detox and bringing human connection and relationships into the workplace, the next piece of the puzzle is facing the epidemic of burnout. What is your relationship to time, productivity, self-care? We've been disconnected at so many levels, yet the pandemic has given us the opportunity to stop hiding behind the mantra of "I'm so busy" and create real change.

The advice I wish I had given to my 20 year old self is…

Be brave and learn to cut your losses as quickly as possible, because it's never too late to begin again!

When did you feel you got “you” back?

This was less about getting "me" back and more about finally knowing and understanding my truth, who I am, and the willingness to stand in that light. In my younger days I was a people pleaser and you can never truly know yourself when you're in that mode. It takes work to embrace everything about yourself, and at the same time it feels so empowering.
